Snafus and Errors in Canon
First, some definitions:
I'm using the term “canon error” to denote a contradiction: –i.e., a canonical fact contradicting another canonical fact. My use of the term is not intended as a suggestion that the said error was unintended; perhaps it was intended, but intentions are something we can only speculate on; whereas the objective fact of the contradiction is easier to establish.
“Snafus” I'm using as a grab-bag term for things that wouldn't fit exactly into the term “contradiction”, but which for some reason or another make little sense.
NOTE 1: The aspects of ships and characters won't be addressed here, such as the various mutations of the Tiger's Claw.
NOTE 2: The WC movie, and books by Peter Telep won't be touched; just because they ARE canon errors, rather than have such; and because they suck. And just to clarify, I (monkhouse/chuck_starchaser) absolutely love Forstchen's works, as well as all the other authors, other than Telep, such as Keith, Guon, Lackey, Ohlander and Stasheff. Just because I'm calling some errors and snafus here doesn't mean I'm dissing their works. Humans err. But I have no respect whatsoever for the works of Telep, who turns a cheery, big-hearted, funny and accented character like Paladin into a quiet, taciturn mystic; and eventually (in Pilgrim Stars) a traitor; and who imbues his Pilgrims with psychic powers of all kinds, turning this science-fictional WC universe into a stupid fantasy just short of space dragons and black magic.
