The Amadeus was a Confederation hospital-ship that was destroyed in 2673. Black Lance forces, posing as Border Worlds terrorists, ambushed the ship, which was carrying supplies through Border Worlds space. Dragon class fighters de-cloaked, destroyed the Amadeus' escorts, and attacked the ship with a Flash Pack, leaving no survivors.

This seemingly mindless act of violence was one of the driving forces behind Confed's decision to investigate the Border Worlds, and would have led to war between the two factions were it not for the efforts of Col. Christopher Blair, who uncovered the Black Lance plot and prevented the “Border Worlds Conflict”, as it came to be known, from erupting into all out war.
