In 2670, leaders of the Goliath Project (Tolwyn, Richards, Bondarevsky and others) opt for operating the FRLS Mjollnir (ex-KIS Karga) the way it was designed for, —namely, using Kofar resupply ships to refuel and rearm fighters, rather than have them land on the carrier and take off again. The alternative (doing things in the traditional Terran way), would have involved modifying the carrier for the faster launch and recovery cycles required, which would have taken a lot of extra work —and precious time that wasn't available.

Kofar ships are not new in 2670; or at least the role of a mobile, resuplying and rearming ship is not new. Tolwyn had, years earlier, pushed for the development of such ships, arguing that they gave the cats a tactical advantage.
