The fact that Hummers were at a ground base with a strip would seem to indicate they are atmo capable fighters; supersonic aerodynamics apply: sharp leading edges, swept wings... The fact they are called "planes" would seem to suggest that they are planes --i.e. atmospheric-only airplanes, like the [[:wc_info:ship_classes:confed:fighter:hawk|Hawk]].
