Wing Commander mystery: Tarawa or Concordia?

I've assumed, and many others have too, that the carrier depicted on the cover of End Run is the Tarawa, or something along the lines of what the (CVE-08) TCS Tarawa might look like. However, that ship on the cover of End Run has a big number 12 on it. CVE-12? But the bigger problem I see is that that ship was clearly inspired on the ship on the cover of WC2, Vengance of the Kilrathi, which has a number 14 on it. CVE-14? But the CVE (escort carrier) line came much later than WC2 in the timeline. End Run happens in 2667, IIRC. What the heck IS this ship? Certainly no escort carrier; certainly not the TCS Tarawa…

I'd venture to say that the ship on the cover of WC2 is the Confederation class (CVS-65) TCS Concordia, if not for the number 14 on it. Now, if the painter of the cover of End Run was trying to paint the Concordia, he didn't do a terribly commendable job, but the resemblance is uncanny, non-the-less…

Whatever that is, it's NOT the Tarawa, I say. Not to mention that it doesn't look at all like a converted cargo ship…

Could it be one of the ships that participated in the Vukar Tag ambush? A museum piece they found somewhere?, an earlier version of the Confederation class than even the Concordia?
