Member of the dai Nokhtak hrai or clan, which is a sub-clan of the Kiranka clan. Son of the sister of Admiral Largka Cakg dai Nokhtak, and a distant cousin of Thrakath, he is considered by his followers as the rightful heir to the throne.

He was on his first tour of duty assignment aboard supercarrier KIS Karga, under the command of his uncle, Largka, when it raided Landreich in late 2669, after the end of the war.

The FRLN repel the raid, and the Karga retreats. In the Vaku system they meet two Confederation cruisers, and a long battle ensues, ending with the destruction of both cruisers and serious damage to the Karga. Human and kilrathi survivors land in a barely habitable moon that orbits a gas giant planet in Vaku. The two enemy groups decide to put their differences aside, and work together for survival. Murragh is among the kilrathi survivors, and as the noblest among them, becomes their leader and representative.

After 9 months on Vaku, they meet FRLN ships involved in Project Goliath, which aimed to restore the Karga and then use it for the defense of the Landreich from the expansionist ambitions of Ukar dai Ragark lak Haka, warlord of

Murragh considers Ragark his enemy, and decides to help with Project Goliath.
