¹⁾ While turreted weapons are considered “defensive weapons” for most ship size classes, a destroyer's role is itself defensive: that of intercepting smaller ships that may threaten a carrier or flagship, using their plentiful turret weapons to establish a “kill zone” around themselves; and therefore the same turrets that would be considered defensive on other ships are actually offensive when mounted on a destroyer.
