The Plasma Gun was originally developed to attack heavy fighters and lightly armored corvettes. It uses electrically charged hydrogen molecules that are in a state of near-fusion. The main weapon of the Devastator, this is only mounted weapon that can apply severe damage to a capital ship's bridge and engines. It is six times more effective than the Cloudburst cannon, though it draws a great deal of energy and has a long refire delay.
